I want to know if SW Flow simulation can give data output of the resistance in Newton, once an analysis has been concluded.
A boat hull in the water moves at 20 knots. I need to know the resistance created by this boat hull in the water at 20 knots.
Can SW flow simulation give you this data in a report format?
for example:
10 knots > 100 newton
15 knots > 150 newton
20 knots > 200 newton
Maybe. Certainly not its best game. I think I saw a you tube of somebody trying it from maybe 5 or 6 years ago when the FS capability came out. I tried it once but really did not put in the effort to figure it out and gave it up too quickly - didn't have time to spend on it. This is, or at least was, very tricky to pull off in any code say10 years ago. Getting good estimates still probably requires knowledge and skill. Not the territory for an initial foray into CFD in my humble opinion. Maybe someone from SWX can comment on Flow Sim's abilities here. I would also be interested in whether a good estimate can be had and any Froude or R'Number restrictions/limitations.
