I had created toolpaths in Solidworks CAM 2019 for a lathe part.  Toolpaths looked great with the turning tools starting far away from the part in X and Z like normal.   Fast forward to where I upgraded to Solidworks CAM 2020, and I load my lathe part with its toolpaths.  When/If I regenerate my toolpaths, now the turning tools start (and end) at… (Show more)

Does anyone know why Perimeter Boss only allows for Finish and not Rough-Finish? I tried adding it in TechDB but there's no Rough mill operation to add. Only Contour mill. I could do two contour mill passes (one for roughing) but if I sort the operation the roughing operation will not be sorted with the rest of the roughing passes. I'm new to… (Show more)

I just started playing around the CAM Standard and find it pretty easy to use for the simple tasks I need, but the milling machine I plan to use this with requires manual tool changes. I can't change the tools over the part. I need the table to move to another location so I have the room to change to the next cutter. Am I missing something or is… (Show more)

I'm a long-time SolidWorks user, but new to SolidWorks CAM Professional.  We are using SW CAM to generate 2.5 Axis code on our routers - nothing special or complex here!  As a company, we've decided to add all machining operations to every part file.  We cut replacement parts on an as-needed basis and believe capturing the CAM data in every part… (Show more)

I am new to solidworks CAM and am trying to create a new spoilboard facing program that does a spiral/offset toolpath as opposed to the raster that it seems to default to. Am I missing something or am I not able to make a spiral?

Click to view contentHello everyone!   I am attempting to rough out a multi-level open pocket with the Z-Level toolpath (see picture). The tool removes the right amount of material, my only issue is that it wants to plunge the endmill straight into the stock material and work from the inside-out. I would prefer if the tool began outside of the stock material and… (Show more)

Hello,   I have designed and drawn up a speed handle for a mill vise.  This part has a hex shaped pocket that will go over the mill vise hex.  Since an endmill will not reach into the sharp corners of the hex shaped pocket, I drew in 1/8" holes to clear away material in those sharp corners.   I have spent hours and hours trying to find a way to… (Show more)

As an engineer used to having others do my machining and one who will apparently have to make a custom post processor for my four axis mill (VSS MicroMill DSLS 3000AB with the fourth axis option), it would be extremely useful to verify my machine operations using CAMWorks True G-Code Machine Simulation. Sadly, I can't find it in Solidworks CAM… (Show more)

I have completed an assembly design that would best be machined using 4th axis indexing on my mill setup (Microproto VSS MicroMill DSLS 3000AB with 4th Axis controlled by Mach 3 and a CNCdrive UC100 USB motion controller). I'm using Solidworks veterans edition which includes CAM Professional. Under "Define Machine->Post Processor" I see entries… (Show more)

Hi Team,   Hope all are fine. I have one doubt in SolidWorks CAM NC EDITOR.   I have "SolidWorks 2018 + CAM Licence" and "SolidWorks 2019+ CAM Licence"   Therefore, in both version, we have inbuilt CAM NC Editor for 2018 and 2019 [Since I have SolidWorks CAM]   What is the difference between the both versions of CAM NC EDITOR?
